Re: Florida's Treasure Coast/Miami - Looking for good spots

The treasure coast is pretty sanded in right now.

We spent last weekend there - camped at Sebastian inlet state park, just north of Vero, and detected near the McClarty Museum, and a few small beaches in that area.

Digging in the sand, you'll have to go at least 2 feet, and some cases 4 feet to reach shells. Even the sea oats in the dunes above the beach are sanded in.

To make matters worse, the big treasure beaches around Vero are mostly closed now, due to the beach renourishment (dumping of new sand) going on. Wabasso is closed, Golden Sands is closed, and a few others.

Find daily treasure coast detecting conditions at http://treasurebeachesreport.blogspot.com/

Right now, you'll probably have better luck on the beaches Miami.

In Miami, the problem is finding parking near the beach, in a place where you car won't be broken into while you are out on the beach detecting.

Before you drive across the state, you might want to try some of the smaller bayside parks around Ft Myers
