most of the best fluorescent mineral actually come from New Jersey.
there are w mines...the Franklin and the Sterling mines.
the amount of variety of mineral that come out of these mines are stunning, and Franklin is known as the Fluorescent capital of the world.
I am not sure if you can still collect at the mine locales, but you can
certainly peruse the dump pits for the mines.

Nashoba, can you not take a picture of that rock under a light so that we can see it? I have never seen a Flourescent Rock before.

you should be able to find what you want at the above place i grew up in that town and yes it is the flourescent mineral capital of the world and it is open to the public to dig your own i think it is the place you seen on tv

Come on out to the south west and hunt with our light, almost any mine tailings out here.

im heading up to the sterling mine in a couple of weeks. i'll pick you up some stuff while im there if you want.

I have about 400 lbs of Tiffany stone, rough, sliced, and even cabbed. Glows a bright lime green under shortwave UV, long wave works too just not as well. Afghanite glows a nice orange in longwave UV.

Pick up a book on them fluorescent minerals, or go to mindat.org.

I picked up a nice battery operated short/long wave used in forensics for a reasonable price. It came with a shield, I also ordered the three dif colored glasses. I have a pocket longwave UV flashlight that works off three AAA's as well.

The better the light, the better they glow, the easier it is to see them - in the field and at home.
