Heres a handful of buttons...different eras, all military

first one is the hooks, different navy's before the crown earliest, with the crown post 1812 era, two piece much later no crown again

second is silvered...Cavin Battallion early 1800s Irish militia, another early British Royal Marines , and crazy cool lion on a livery button

finally the strays...early 1800s French grenadiers, USA Indian Wars era eagle, and a 1812 Commisitariat button.

enjoy the sampling

Hey Bill, now that's a tough question to ask of any detectorist. :icon_scratch:
I like to say that my last 'keeper find' is often my favourite.

But if pressured, I would have to say anything that's been personalized.

I just love how the owners of horses would personalize them with harness rosettes!

Since Ironhorse posted up the old military buttons thought I'd post one of mine that kind of gave me a jolt....:laughing7::laughing7::laughing7:

I was detecting in a school yard and popped this button out of the ground. US naval artillery button with full gilt if that button were period and legit in that condition it would be worth some serious money.

Flipped it over and it had a plastic back to it.....:laughing7::laughing7::laughing7: it was a darn civilian blazer knock off.

I found the quarters and dime near a local High School baseball field, and the 1881 Garfield Dollar on a soccer field (used to be farmland). I love the Statue of Liberty image on the back. West suburbs of Chicago.

Found the beads in the same area as the bannerstone over a period of about a year. The mica is one of two pieces that were from the same site, but not in the same spot. Just thought it looked good with the beads. Everything in the frame is from the same site. First place I ever looked over thirty years ago, long since destroyed. Really spoiled me for life.

Folks,

I'll add a detecting find thats near and dear to me. It was found by a good internet detecting friend who has since passed on. Went by the name John from Ohio. He ran a contest and I was the lucky winner it was found in an old school yard in Ohio.

If corona virus hadn't shut me down I would be here !! Found this site on rumors about a pirate fort from the islanders last year....big guns in the ground...all different sizes and caliber (pirates) !! Was supposed to be at the site these last couple weeks....Corona virus has me shut down with all my detectors and equipment stranded in the bahamas with our boat and me stuck here in florida !! Not good !!
Either way it's all gonna stay right there....this could well be one of the coolest sites I'll ever get to search !!

Here's another one for the pot. Lead motorcycle rider found at the base of a big tree in front of an old school.

That's the coolest ever!

Doesn't hold a candle to yours, but here's my only.

sandchip,

That's a beauty and appears intact. That could be a good restoration project for you if you have time on your hands odds are there's instructional videos on youtube.

Bart, That's gotta be driving you nuts knowing there's all kinds of keepers over there in the Bahamas and your grounded in the keys. Mind you there's a lot worse places to be stranded than in the keys....:laughing7::laughing7::laughing7:

Wow.
This would have been an excellent way to self isolate if you had been there when the order came down.
