Good morning guys.
Are you already having a coffe?
While you were sleeping, your european friend, began diging a new site. I've been around this site and i only found a few coins here and there. Today i hit the right place. In two hours, before getting too hot, i could find 20 small coins. Comparing to the others that i have found, they are from 340-Bc. I collected some info before getting there. That area was inhabited from around 700-Bc to 300-400 Ad.
The rainy days helped me a lot because four of them where right in the surface.
My question is: why could i find only this small coins and not bigger coins? Where they buying ice creams in that area? :)))))

Sorry. 19 and a half coins :)

Vince,

Good going on the big haul of old coins....I recall having a discussion with Westfront about the lack of larger coins as well as silver and gold coins when detecting in Europe.

Our guess was during Roman, Celtic and medieval times most people were fairly poor so only small denomination coins were common only the upper classes of society had access to the higher denomination coins....that's my story and I'm sticking to it....lol.

I agree with you and Westfront. Also, they were mostly used. Not every body goes for shopping with a 500$ in the wallet.

Excellent coins! I love seeing this style of large, skilled portraits on the coins. Do you think they're Greek? Etruscan?

Best Wishes,

Buck

Thanks Buck
I think they are Illyrian coins or early Roman. I have not an exact Id yet. My id is based on the time the people lived there.
