For all the posts getting on newbies

I know the same old question can get old but people's opinions and circumstances do change. I for one only have access from my iPhone and I don't see where these tips for newbies are located. Maybe I am blind. Someone help me out and show us where they are if you are on a smart phone. In these guys defense, most of them are just thrilled to be making their first post. Most of us are more than patient with them but a few of us could work on making them feel a little more welcome in my opinion. I really hope this doesn't anger folks. This is just one mans opinion. HH all and to all a great Wednesday.

I don't know if it is the same as on the iPad, but it's under the 'stickies' tab up top.

That is a big help from both of y'all. Thank you both. On these dang phones I can't mark a thread solved or vote banner. It kinda sucks unless I'm missing something.

I think the big issue is that because of the price of silver and more exposure, more and more people are accessing/joining the forum. If you check the traffic, the CRH forum is experiencing a lot of the site's views.

New people in this climate are in general looking to make a quick buck/profit off the hobby. People in the current time period in general want things given to them instead of doing the research themselves. People in the current time period are less inclined to follow the basic "rules" of CRHing and will probably do a lot of damage in the time they are involved in the hobby.

I'm sorry if I am going to come off abrasive but I will. It's tiring looking at the same basic questions over and over again, and honestly, this isn't Barney or Sesame Street. We might enjoy discussing the hobby or forming relationships, but in general, any new CRHer is a competitor for the same coins in circulation. I'm not going to bend over backwards to tell someone how to compete with me; they can figure it out from the information available.

I can on my android phone , it is called "report".

You might want to check out the program called tapatalk, I started using it over the TN app and like it better... Not sure of it is available for iPhone or not..

I can totally understand your side of that. Those peeps in it for a quick buck will disappear very soon I think. 2 thousand face dimes is pretty tough to find one 2 dollar silver. I'm not quitting but I think many will. Once they burn a few tanks of gas with 5 bucks of silver to show for it. HH.

Thats probably the most logical answer ive seen. Its good to help someone but they are competition. If you found a pile of gold waiting to be mined would you probably wouldnt tell the people on the mining thread about the location.

I am all in support of new people. I am so small time that I don't feel threatened.

The people that think they are going to make a gazillion dollars overnight are what give new people a bad reputation on here. I keep my mouth shut most of the time if I get frustrated on here because I love collecting coins and sharing my finds with people and don't want to be starting anything or hurting someone's feelings or getting banned.

People that usually get a rude response on here from others usually ask silly questions, like, "what denomination to search, what gets the most silver, how can I make the most money, what to do with searched coins, etc., etc., etc." which are all answered in the Beginner's Guide, which is why it is stickied to the top of the forum.

Again, don't take this as bashing or hating on anyone, but this is an explanation for why most new people don't get helpful responses.

Other reasons are that people are afraid of competition, or people ruining the hobby, or screwing up their pickup/dumping situation, or probably another big one is that (as already stated) people don't want to read and want the answers handed to them.

My two zinc cents.

I know when I first discovered the site, I read for weeks before I finally posted. Then you get people posting "where do i buy coin from." Am I right, and they are wrong? Thats not for me to decide. I just feel that it's a bit lazy to not do any of the homework myself and expect everyone to do it for me. There was a post the other day about someone not wanting to date check their halves, and what to look for on the rims....Im sorry thats LAZY. I know I went through a few thousand dollars worth of halves before I felt comfortable enough to only rim check. People don't want to put in the time, they just want instant results.

I posted about "inconsiderate dumpers" a few weeks ago, and this ties in. People who are lazy and inconsiderate will ruin this hobby for everyone!

I vote that we rebuild the Beginners Guide to condense the number of pages and make it easier to read. When I read it through my iPhone it is 15 pages, mostly because of years of comments about people saying how much they like the info. No offense to the original member that posted it, or to anyone that commented on it. Simply put, if you want people to extract the intended message you have to make it easier to read.
