Must be to mount on spear or harpoon. Looks too large and heavy for speargun.

Its a gig.

Gig Spear

"A gig can refer to any long pole which has been tipped with a multi-pronged spear. The gig pole ranges in length from 8 to 14 feet for fish gigs and 5 to 8 feet for frog gigs. A gig typically has three or four barbed tines similar to a trident; however gigs can be made with any number of tines."

This man has a passion for eel gigs. They're somewhat collectible by a few out there, so if you see any old eel gigs for a dollar at like a yard sale or flea market pick it up.

Most of the frog gigs I've seen have at least three prongs.

When you shine the light on the water, only gig the green eyes. Those are frogs. Leave the red eyes alone.

Some swamp wisdom for you, Kev.

Definitely! I was out one night catching mud minnows for bait in the marsh and got my cast net hung up. I waded out and retrieved it, when I got back to the bank and looked up with my head lamp there were a lot of those red eyes headed my way. I decided real quick I had enough bait from that spot!

Red eyes reflecting on the water, have never seen that before in photos. More like the red-eyed army coming to get you.
I didn't take that picture, but I have seen plenty of them.
