Hard to tell from your pic but but my guess is a fossil crinoid.

Ha yes I am using my iPhone camera and the flash blurs out the pic .

Early man may have had a curiousity in natural shapes, and drilled a hole in the fossil to add to their necklace. Or the core of the fossil naturally eroded out. I have found them in this manner.

fossil, they are quite a few here in MO. they do make great necklaces. they come in a wide rance of sizes.

Yeah that's a crinoid. I have found tons here in southern Illinois.

I agree . . . a section of crinoid stem. Each individual 'bead' is called a 'columnal.'

You can see portions of the stems attached to these crinoid heads, or 'calces' (singular: 'calyx').

They are fairly common in Ms. creek beds, you have to pay close attention to the hole to see any wear from being worn.Nice find your are looking at the right things.
