Fossil or drawing?

Found this rock today here in California. Not sure if fossils occur on rocks like this.
Showed a few people and they said it looks like a drawing almost.

So, is it a fossil? Or perhaps native American art?

What you have there is a dendrite a pseudofossil. In other words a branching figure or marking resembling moss or a tree form, usually found in certain stones or minerals due to the presence of a foreign material.
