Does the round disk in the center move? Is that a hinge I see on it? Does the object have any words or markings on it at all? We need more clues!!! Will a magnet stick to it? Did it have any rust on it? Clues please!!! :D

The round disk in the center will rotate completely around the circle. There are no words nor markings on it. It seems to be made out of brass and has no rust on it.

My husband thought it might be a piece of harness- for decoration kind????

It could have been black with gold in the middle, kinda like the budwieiser horses that carry the toppers on their harness.

That makes a lot of sense. It was probably highly polished at one time, so that the light reflected of the free floating disk.

I found this item around an old mansion. It is about two inches long and about an inch wide. Can anyone tell me what it is?
Thanks for the information.
