A friend of mine hunts for arrowheads. He found this in a plowed field along with a seated dime and pottery shards. Does anyone know what it is?

It looks like a button, but it seems to be too thick for a button. The figures on the front of it looks like either CD or 6D. There isn't any writing on the back, and it looks like something was attached to it at one time. It's not made of lead...maybe pewter?

Does anyone have any ideas....?? ???

Thanks!

Looks a lot like a seal that is clamped onto an electrical box such as a meter to detect tampering. If so, a wire would be clamped onto or into it. Monty

Monty,

That's what I thought too. I think those things are made of lead though.

Well, Monty, maybe it is lead. Maybe it's not old so there's no patina on it .....like musketballs have.

Monty might have hit it on the head. A cup seal for a box made out of steel, not lead.
