I hope that it's for a candle....... It looks like a medieval torture device like a thumbscrew, or for a certain other sensitive area (OUCH just having that thought hurt a bit!)

The pointed end looks like it's made to be stuck into the ground. Possibly used to hold a single stem rose/flower at a grave site. That's my best guess.

It does look like old funerary or undertakers decorative hardware designed to hold anything temporary or perishable.

I took that photo about 40 floors up, while on a job in Downtown Miami about 5 years ago during the end of the construction boom. I can't wait to get out of this God forsaken place, within the year I hope.

I took it to an antique shop today and they said it had a long sterling silver handle on the end were the spike is and they removed it for the silver an probably threw it out. he had several like them in his store in the past years it is used for lighting chandeliers.

Looks like any large city. It used to be a beautiful place but its now a cesspool and Americans are the minority. Good people are also the minority. Everyone is out to cheat everyone else.

I thought I would be out of here too. I bought some beautiful land in Hendry Counry, the only country area left in South Florida with good people for a decent price but the building codes are as bad as Palm Beach.

Hi GTI2000; I believe it is a candle tamper. That it is Religious in Nature. It had a handle on the spiked end. The floral aspect then held a candle with which they would use to light a second candle that would normally be of of reach by angle the candle being held by this device to light it. The screw part was used to tighten it's grip on the first candle. Another variation of this has a long candle wick that was angled in the same manner. I hope this ok. PEACE:RONB

The area is called Pioneer, it's off Hendry Isles Blvd. south of hwy 80. It's dry and separated by a canal.
