I'm not sure what I found. I found it about 8 inches down at an old dairy farm field. My best guess is it's a bent-up old hand made copper spoon. What does it look like to you? It appears to be made of hammered copper. You can see what looks like tool/hammer marks over the entire piece. The left side (as pictured) is rectangular then traditions into round before flattening out into the spoon like end. The round portion seems to be smoother or worn smooth compared to the rest. The entire piece measures 5 1/2 inches long. Any ideas???

Looks like some kind of crowbar.

Spoon may be close. If it was out in a field a farmer might of had a meal out there. Could it be a part of some harness?

May be some kind of hook for farming like for grabbing hay bundles.

It's only 5 1/2 inches long. I found it in the same spot I found 10 of these these.

5-1/2" copper crowbar was my first idea, to open leprechaun gold pots, but it may instead be part of a copper kettle bail.

Where are you located? Could possibly be a Copper Culture spear point. Even if you are not in the upper Midwest, copper was widely traded.

Southern California? That would be a long way from the source - northern Wi., Mi. U.P. A local university archeologist could help confirm things. I don't know your soil type, but, in our area, Copper Culture finds have a heavier patina- greener.

That looks like one of the rakes that would attach to the back of the plow when preping a field for planting seeds. They come in all shapes and sizes. the little ones are used after the big plowing has been done and your ready for planting.

Maybe...

It could be anything but I am still leaning toward very old copper/alloy spoon. Kinda hard to see in the pics I posted.
After a lot of looking online I have found what the "spoon" and "coins" might be. Is it possible that they are Roman?
Here is a picture of a Roman spoon and Roman coins that look very similar.

On item #1, since it is copper and 5 1/2 inches long, I think it is a broken bracelet. It very well could be a trade bracelet. The coin-like pieces could be 'area' trade coins. Are you sure everything is copper and not bronze? Interesting finds, Breezie

I'm pretty sure they are copper. There are a few scratches in the patina and it looks copper to me. They also registers as copper on my metal detector. Is there a way to test them?
