It is certainly a fossil. In my opinion, it looks like tooth enamel.

Thoughts anyone?

I am no expert, but my first thought was that it is a piece of tile. Is one side pretty flat?

Nice tooth btw. I was in venice last week and sieved a bunch of small ones. A guy was there that hauled out a 5 inch tooth from under a rock at the beach. Biggest one I have seen from that area personally

I know that this is an old post-but this was identified as a piece of a mammoth tooth plate. It is fragmentary but is one of the plate fragments held together with dentin.
