Hiya Mud,
Sorry to hear about your BH detector, Must be a fault with it or something.
I can support everyone who says the ACE250 is a GOOD machine.!! I've had mine for a couple of months now and it is GREAT.!! and it LOVES SILVER.!!
In the short time i've had mine, i have found 4 Silver rings all at between 2" and 5" and a Solid Silver Gents Bracelet at about 3-5". I also found my first Gold ring at about 6" too.
I can also agree totally with Hollowpointred that the ace DOES'NT Like WET SALT SAND on beaches but it does GREAT in the dry sand though.!! Beaches are about the only places i have round here to hunt, so i can say this from experience.!!
Where i live there are hardly any Silver content Coins but i know for a FACT that it does find Silver.!!
My opinion and it IS just MY opinion, try and get your money back on the Bounty Hunter if poss and CERTAINLY go for the ACE250.
You'll definitely be on to a winner there.!!
Good luck with the outcome and also good luck and happy hunting too.
All the best,
Ray.

I'm back ;-)

Mud, you still using that xoxo machine!? lol When ya gonna buy a real detector??

Mud,
I've had a BH QDII for a year now (don't everyone laugh at once please) and last year I found two silver rings, a silver Rosie and a 1967 40% silver Kennedy. This was in a trashy area having my discrim set high and sens set low in auto notch. The half and one ring was at 2"+/- and the other ring and dime was at 4"+/-. Something had to have happened to your detector. The warranty should still be good on it, I'd send it in.
I can feel your pain about not finding silver at home. I live at a house built in 1851 and have found plenty of wheats, a few Indians and even a 1909 Canadian cent but no silver yet. Your 2 cent still beats anything I've found.

Mud,
sounds defective; send it back...it's still under warranty.

Lonewolfe,
WB! good to 'see' ya :)

Mud,
I have a BHQDII that is a cpl years old. I gave it to my 9 year old daughter last year when i purchased my XLT. She regularly finds silver @ 5-8 inches. There is obviously something wrong with your detector. Send it back and get it fixed.

good luck mud!! the ace 250 is a great machine for the price... hope you get to find that silver thats waiting for you.

Mud, something's wrong with it. My wife uses a BH and has found more silver than I have with my Fisher CZ. That's not saying the BH is better, but she either swings it over more silver than I do, or she recognizes a good signal better than I do. In any case, she's found mercs and a barber quarter with it.

Mud, get you an Ace 250! Great detector for the price .My friend just got one and he can keep up with me pretty much. I may get a little more depth but that is about it. The 250 will pull coins all day. :)

Yep I'd pack that jewel up and send'er back. I hunt with a Bounty Hunter Land Star and have no problems with it.
I think what you might want to research is the type of ground conditions you will be hunting vs. the type of detector that works best in those type of soils.

fellow gave my brother a nearly new b/h pioneer 505,,on air tests the best we could get was clad at 2-3 inches, a large horseshoe at 6 inches....ground testing was about the same, although alot more inconsistant, several times not even hitting the horseshoe or coins.....after his seeing the performance of my ex 2 i thought he would cry.........gldhntr

MY FIRST DETECTOR WAS A BOUNTY HUNTER QUICK DRAW. WHAT A PIECE OF JUNK. SOLD THAT CRAP AT A GARAGE SALE FOR TWENTY DOLLARS. GO ON EBAY AND DO A SEARCH AND YOU'LL SEE THE ONLY ONE THAT ARE SELLING ARE GARRET, WHITES, MINELAB AND SOME TEROSO. I GOT A WHITES PRIZM V. STILL LEARNING IT BUT IT IS GREAT.

I plan on buying a Whites MXT real soon. Right now i have a Whites classic IDX. A good little machine for the price.

MUD if you're looking for a new machine with decent depth you have some very good lower cost options.

1. The Ace 250 can't be beat for the price. It's depth is probably as good as most machines costing $500 or more. This is a hot resale item.

2. A better machine for $340 is the Tesoro Cibola (HOT). This detector is very deep and smooth. It will get the depth of machines costing over $1000. Learn the sounds and you'll kill with it. Watch for super deals on used units. Tesoro stands behind all their detectors no matter who owns them (FREE service). If you send a detector into Tesoro to be checked they will make sure it's super hot before they return it to you. In some ways, buying used Tesoros is smarter.

You could buy a used Cibola for maybe $250 and use it for a year and get your money back. Tesoro resale really rocks. But I doubt you'll want to sell it. ;)

Hey all,

First WB lonewolfe!

Wow, This post is getting way bigger than I thought...Sweet ;D Umm... I sent the Control Box and Coil Back like they asked and why it won't work. Sent it in the mail today >:( I want to HUNT.... :( If I buy a new detector I will have to save and I will go with the New Ace 250 Pro. or the good old MXT or XLT. It really $#@@ #@**!@ (stinks) I did all that hunting last year and was not picking up silver coins. >:( Now I have to wait God knows how long to get my detector back. I don't even know if they will fix it right or what. :'( Lets see on the bright side, I found a gram of Platinum from the coin store its cool. ;D

Keep @ it and HH!!

MUD, SEND IT BACK TO THE FACTORY!!!!! trk5capt
