Well there I was going through the park on my lunch hour, the one thats been a little lucky lately. When all of the sudden BIIINNNGGGG goes my ace 250. I starting digging a whole and before long was about to give up. I ran the Ace over the hole again,. but the BIIINNNGGGG was gone and now was over the dirt. I couldn't believe what I saw, it was a shield and the "one cent" of an Indian Head !! I flipped it over and looked in disbelief - it was a 1876 Indian Head. I think this year is kind of rare too !! I know it's not in the greatest of shape but it sure is COOL !!!

Thanks for listening and for looking !!

Great job Ivy_walls. And as a bonus your IH looks awesome. My first 2 were finally thrown away they were so damaged by time. But I can still remember finding them and where they came from. Awesome seeing em come out of the ground.

Congratulations,

I'd go with "dang", that's more what it sounds like on an Ace 250, found my first one with an Ace 250 about a month ago.

1876 IH, kind of rare is right, worth $30.00 in good condition. The one you want too find is the 1877.

Great find! I haven't found one of those in YEARS.

My one and only IH was a surface find at a playground.........found with a detector, but didn't have to dig it........somebody had part of Mommy or Daddy's coin collection at school, I'm thinking.

Get on back there.........there's bound to be more!!

Wow.........nice find.........and if I recall......didn't you just get your hands on the 250? Nice coin!

I grade it to be just shy of a full fledged "FINE" worth at least $25 - $30

Congrats!!

I remember my first one. I was so excited I ran up to my two children who both said "so what"?

CONGRATS!! My first IH was found in my garden. I had gone over the same spot numerous times but I guess we had enough rain to reach my oldest coin to date. 1909!! no mint marks though. I still consider it to be my best find,

I would say "jut shy of Fine" is correct. At least three letters of "Liberty" in the headdress are visible, and the reverse is quite nice. Close to Fine-12, but just a little too much wear on the headdress. Very Good normally has a grade of 8, but I would say VG-10 on this one. Now, of course a professional grader would knock it down a notch because of the light corrosion/pitting on the obverse.
