Today I decided to walk some nature trails that I drive by every day on the way to work. I found some really old trees off the trails and an old bridge that goes over a small stream. One section is an open field its been cleaned and it looks like in the spring they will be planting grass, This section is going to be a dog park. I also read that it was a dog park in the 20's and 30'.There was lots of stone walls all over. At the entrance of the trail there was a map on the map it mentioned that Bicycles and ATV weren't allowed on the trails. These trails are mostly used by hikers joggers and dog walkers they are called colonial trails. Does anyone know if its ok to metal detect nature trails in New York. Thanks

2-many-hobbies, I'm glad you asked. It just so happened, that I ........ yes I ...... own that public jogger/hiker trail. I grant you, just as I have those joggers and hikers, permission to be there. Glad that you, just like them, asked permission to be there. Go have a blast! ;D
