Found this blue stone, ? what is it.

Found in wisconsin in glaical till, been a rock hound for years but never found blue stone before, any help? Thanks Mike

It looks strange but it's like if the stone had been painted. But it could be chalcanthite on lead or azurit on copper. However, it really looks like paint.

Thats what i thought(paint) but after washing in water i took a little paint thiner on a rag and wiped it but got no color. Thanks for the reply Mike

It looks sort of blueish from here, chrysocolla or turquoise?
whack off a small edge, might be useful to see a fresh surface.

From the color of the background in your photos (I assume it was white) I believe the color balance is pretty close to actual, so the blue colors are fairly represented.

The colors certainly have the appearance that is common to copper oxides and copper carbonates. This is probably a specimen from the weathering zone on the top of a copper deposit and represents the secondary minerals from that zone that have been glacially transported.

Any chance this specimen was found in the glacial rubble south or south-southwest of Ladysmith?

Looks Bornite or Covellite. Just a guess

Can't see any fracture zones, but I'd guess poor grade lapis lazuli myself.

Looks like chyrsicola, quite commonly mistaken for turquoise by the newbies to rock hunting...not an expert but....goat
