Well just from the patina it looks modern. Looks like it clamped to something on its four corners. Maybe a belt buckle face. But very modern

It would help to know what type of metal. Brass or pot metal? Clean it with soft brush and water and look for markings. You may need to soak it for a while.

I found this today while out with my son on an old trail just wanted to c if maybe anyone here may know what it is cuz I don't its 2",by 1" no chips as far as I can c curious if it could be something old or mayb a reproduction of somesort any help will be very apreciated happy hunting everyone

Well its still soakin in soapy water I believe its brass myself ah now when u say modern what ere years u think ? I as well from what I've heard so far am thinking belt buckle or another told me mayb goes on a plac mayb thanks again for all the info & help ill keep all posted till we find out exactly what it may b very grateful for a website like this full of information on just aboat everything to do with detecting thanks again

looks very much the style of a confederate belt buckle i had when i was a teenager like 30 ish years ago , but mine was brass and mine had the loop one 1 end not both, and there was a hook on the back to go into the holes.
yours looks more like it is made for decoration like a sash for scouts or a belt would thread thru the ends .

Yes it is looking more like that from the replies I've been getting here & from others outside of the website I to was leaning towards the belt buckle or like u said a decoration Peice of some sort thanks for ur time on this & like I said soon as I get the exact I'd on it ill let everyone know & definitely apreciate everyones help great site this is

wish we could get a 100% id ,, and we may yet . there are some amazing people on here that find pictures of things you would never believe.
