✅ SOLVED Found this under a 500 year old oak tree... what is it?

It is a buckle for a strap of some sort, but I am trying to figure out exactly what it was used for. You all are much wiser than I am!!

Kewl find!! I don't care about digging up tree roots or digging right next to trees @ all. BUt I will say if the tree is 500 years old, please give it some respect! It better be one fine fine fine signal in order for me too dig around a 500 year old tree.

Looks like something came off of a horse hardness... maybe a tug buckle. Or something off of a horse carriage. Maybe a horse was tied up around that 500 year old oak tree years ago! It is a nice piece. HH!

I dont know what it is....that being said I feel it is oxen related.this is simply an avenue offered for research.....cool find for sure..

I agree. I tried searching patents but I couldnt find a match its probably a trace carrier. Not curry comb. Pic is not a match but you can see similarities. Someone that has time to search may find it.

How do you know the tree is 500 years old? That would be from the 1500s. Kinda old for an oak isnt it? I also would enjoy seeing it and I doubt a little digging will harm it.
