Found this on a auction site but I cannot make out exactly what this says from the auction pictures, the bottom to me reads "copyright 1888"
Other than that I hoping someone may be able to figure this out. Thanks to all .....

Several eBay listings for this figure say it’s from the top of a clock. This listing says it’s cast by “N Mullers Son” (Nicholas Muller's Sons were New York clock makers between 1874 to 1892 ):

I believe the figure is generic, and not of anyone in particular.
