Found this object in an inactive Farm field. I think it is made of brass. The top almost looks like an acorn. It is hollow and has a screw, presumably so this can be fastened to something. Looks too good to be part of a piece of farm equipment. Maybe it is part of an iron fence? Any insights would be appreciated, as I would love to know what this object is. Thanks for your feedback.

I agree that it's probably a finial for a iron gate although it could also be part of a weathervane but I would lean more toward gate/fence finial.

Based on it's size and shape, my first thought was that it's from a brass bed frame. :icon_scratch:
If it was a "furniture foot or fancy buggy shaft" I'd think it would show more signs of wear.

Well...

If it was from a brass bed frame in my house... it also would show "wear"... :P

Thank you for the good ideas and the humor. I was originally thinking fence top, but I am not sure if they would have used brass for that, and I don't see any evidence of fencing in the area. I am leaning more toward some sort of home furnishing, like the bed post, clock, or some other furniture. I like the buggy part idea too, which would make sense, but I would need to do some more searching. Again, thank you all for your feedback.

I think Andirons for a fireplace may be a possibility too. I had never heard of them before, but I saw some while researching and they were often made of brass.
