So, Scott and I decided to hit that junky ridge along the creek where he got his 1774 Carolus III half reale and I got my 1837 large cent.
An hour or so and 98 degrees later, we were both frustrated by the junk and the heat. All I had that for keepers were these. I'd love to know what that Embassy case is for.

I told him I was going to hit the south hay field for a while, so he said he was going to hit the north side (where all my good stuff had been found). So we both walked out and started swinging.
About an hour and change into it, I'm getting tired from the heat and hungry for some dinner so I decided to walk across the field (about 1/3 of a mile) and tell him I was going home. I swung as I walked, and when I got to about ten feet from his current hole - you guessed it - a solid 78-79 on the AT Pro. That's a penny signal, nothing to get excited about (or so I thought), so I dug the plug, flipped it out, and saw the greenish rim of a penny sticking out the side of the plug. I sat down to have a look, and started brushing it off, expecting to see ol' Abe or some wheat. Instead, I saw a headdress! "Whoa!" I yelled with a laugh. Scott looked up at me, saw the coin in my hand, gave me a dirty look and a "F*** you!" which only made me laugh harder. "What is it?" he asked. An Indian head cent, I told him. "Year?" I brushed some more and saw it. "1907, not a great year but it's my first IHC so I won't complain!" He grinned and repeated, "F*** you! I've been digging every piece of wire and iron scrap over here, you walk half a mile across the field and nail an Indian Head 8 feet from me. That's just f***ing great. I really need a new detector!"
