Some mugs can do very well, check out Starbucks City mugs.

I would think the Garfield, Harley Davidson and Mr. Tickle will sell. The last since its in the box. As stated the Starbucks City mugs do very well. The key is research everything you buy or you will end up with a ton of items that don't sell. Mugs are tricky since they will usually go over 13oz and they can get pricey to ship and take away from an already slim profit.

Welcome! No help here but, keep hunting for that treasure....

I have sold many mugs from yardsales, thrift stores and the like.. I have also had many mugs go unsold on ebay and in my own yardsale and donated back to the good will.. My advice is to look for certain brands that are collectable and starbucks mugs. I would think the Harley mug will sell because Harley stuff always does. Same sorta thing with John Deere mugs, Lionel Mugs, stuff that people collect, they will buy mugs that match what they collect, but there arent many "Mug" collectors, just people who collect certain things who will buy a mug that matches.

Mugs might be the one item I see at 99% of yard sales. There is a thread from about a year ago where we were discussing mugs, specifically Starbucks mugs.

Best I can tell you is to do some market research. Go to ebay, type in mugs, sort by "sold items", and then sort by "highest price". See what is selling and look for those items.

Yeah, mugs are a total hit or miss. I see Starbucks city mugs mentioned but the Disney and Epcot Starbucks mugs are good sellers too. As suggested research the "sold listings" on eBay. The only mugs I usually buy regularly if I see them are Fire King, regardless if they are jadeite or not.

Welcome to TNet, Josh! Disney also produced a series of mugs about 20 years ago based on their animated movies. Here is an example:

My wife has a large collection of these. They sell for about $20 - $30 each.

Tiki mugs can also be very valuable. Most of these are more like cocktail glasses (instead of a traditional "mug") but they are known generically as "tiki mugs". I scored big on a couple of these recently:

Royal Doulton Toby mugs are very collectible as well. Rare ones can sell in the hundreds of dollars. Even common ones (in the larger size) usually sell in the $20 - $40 range.
