Hey everyone just wanted to know if anyone has had the problem im having. I looked in previous threads but couldn't find this exactly. Ive been using my at pro with great success for about a year and a half or so but lately i have been going along and in pro mode it starts acting like im standing next to an electrical box numbers jumping everywhere crazy interference type stuff. i turn it off wait a second and turn it back on and its normal for a little bit before it does it again. does anyone have any ideas its getting difficult to deal with and my hunting buddy is getting closer to finding that gold ring so i have to get a move on lol thanks guys gals

Sound like EMI. Does it do it in areas that it didn't before ? Try lowering the sensitivity. Make sure your coil plug is tight. Inspect your coil for cracks also. Is your iron audio on by chance ? All else fails may need a trip in to Garrett.

Maybe it is EMI from your hunting buddy's detector.

Call Garrett it happened to me probably a bad coil if it's not emi

Happens to me as well..

OK well I did consider the EmI but it's doing it even when he's not around. I first noticed it while I was at the beach. walking in a straight line in the same consistency of soil. ground balancing didn't help it just turning it off and resetting it. I have been concerned that maybe i just wore out my coil. maybe just a little too rough with it. Ive been wanting to purchase a smaller coil so if it stops with that one I'll know maybe other wise i guess i need to call garrett. thanks for the info everyone

try a factory reset. Turn it on and then hold power button for a few seconds. It will beep a couple of times then release power button. Then re set your settings and see what happens. Some AT Pros have issues on beaches.

Call Garrett. Mine did something like that a few years ago, they sent me a new coil and it has been great since.

I think pkb has a good idea too. Try a reset.

sounds like water in the coil..happened on another machine of mine.set it upside down in the windshield for a week and it was fine.sprayed it with truck bed liner when dry and never happened again.exact same symptom as you described.

Do you have a coil cover on it? If so, there could be particles between the cover and coil causing the problem.

If you've done all above, I know this sounds stupid, but make sure your Iron Audio is off.

Hello firestorm4141. Welcome!
I've found my ATPro to be less susceptible to EMI than other machines.
All other comments are sound advice.
Check coil wire at coil connection. If you don't see a crack in wire covering, I'd bet on a faulty coil.
"Air Test" a nickel. If it numerically reads as silver, coil is defective. Same thing happened on my 2500. I sent it to Garland Texas.
A new, fully functioning coil was returned. You may be able to have a new coil sent with a simple phone call, if your coil exhibits the aforementioned symptoms.
GL
Peace ✌

the only time I had that weirdness was when I replaced the batteries with some Dollar store ones (Only ones I could find)...but I threw my old batteries back in and it never did it again.

Could be alot of things as mentioned above....If it keeps happening...call Garrett

Seen the ATP eat a lot of signal and still get the goodies in a ol dump. Time for a tune up. Have you called garret yet.
