GEM POINT! What's Your Thoughts?

I was wondering what your thoughts were on ''Gem Points"? Is it the translucence, or the extremely fine detail, or maybe the color/colors? I don't have as many and as nice as some of you others out there, but here are a few that I have found that I consider cool.

Please share your thoughts and Finds.

Beauties.. I always took it as... made of what would be concidered gem quality material in the sence of precious or semi-precious stone.

I was thinking the same, but what category would you classify those that are made with regular materials, but are finely flaked and are still ''pin point'' sharp?

I call those "smokers" I see your angle now. I hope you don't mind but I have one I found that is not translucent but blue and minutely perfect that could be a "little gem" in that sence.

Those Triangles are simple, but are Cool in their own right! :icon_thumleft:

I consider " gem grade " to be the highest grades of lithic material. Agates, chalcedony, pet. wood, etc. but also some high grade pure chert like Flint Ridge and Sonora, etc.

Some examples. Pictured are various various agates, agatized and opalized pet wood, high grade jasper.

very nice points

Th3rty7, those really awesome points you have there. :icon_thumleft: I like the two-toned one!

I have found a few not just arrowheads though. I will spare the cores. I think anything with color should be Gem quality. I dont find any P wood but I have seen some nice ones in that before.

As many colorful pieces of material you find ..one of these days your bound to find a point made of some of it.

Me? I believe it is Jasper. Wish I could find more of it.

In the NW they are small points made from agates and other semi-precious stones. I like 37's description that includes some of the other prettier materials out there.

I really like finding those jasper points too, especially when the yellow and red are mixed.
