Derek, not too bad of an appraisal for that button, I would be concerned if you are thinking of selling it, that I would not sit on it for a future investment. I cannot believe the numbers of that type that have been being found by detectorists in the past few years. It is a tough decision at times to hold on and wait, hold on permanently if determined never to sell, or to put it on the market ASAP.

Whatever you do, take photos and more photos of it for future viewing if you do decide to part with it, which I suspect you might.

How about the NY button(appraisal?/offers?), a lot of Rev War buttons go for as much if not more than your Inaugural button.

Thanks everyone for the replies...To have that button appraised by a professional hit me in the wallet for $180 :'(

I found one just like it this year. Here it is

Can that button be cleaned up without losing its value and or being damaged?

Congratulations on your wonderful historical Colonial Button! It's been high on my list but never found one. I did see one dug up in maine when I visit family and visit a friend up there I knew when I live in Dover, New Hampshire. He too found a GW button but it was oval in shape and had GW inside of it. Congrats.

P.S. how much do they charge to give a appraisal?
