I've got a few questions. When you have a alot of heavy boxes, do you bring a dolly into the bank or just carry them by hand (making several trips to your car)? Dumping coins at same bank you got them but different branch, will that cause problems? Do counting machines accept half dollars, how many rolls will they take before it becomes full?

I do not use the same bank for dumps that I get my coins from. I use a different bank. Opened a freebie checking account to dump. There are no coin machines in my area. I have never seen a dolly being used. I have made a couple trips out to my vehicle for more coins. I never go during peak hours at the bank. It pi.ses off the tellers. You want them in your corner. Hello and welcome. While I am no expert on the subject, I will tell you what I have learned so far.

Always try to dump at a different branch, it will help if you open 2 or 3 accounts with banks and just keep the minimum fees in it. Never get coins from your dump bank.

Sort the coins elsewhere and bring them in a separate box/backpack/bag. I just got my first dump, but I don't think you want to be dumping more than $1000 at a time.

Counting machines accept half dollars, and quite a bit of them. They are stored in large bags when you dump them (and some people here try to buy those bags as well). The problem is the MAJORITY of these counting machines will charge you a % take, you need to find a bank that offers free dumping. If you live on the east coast find a TD bank.

If you don't try different credit unions, some of them still offer free dumping for members (you need to open an account).

1 suggestion that I have is to find a pick up bank that uses a different services than your dump bank.

My 2 pick up banks use people's for their coins and my dump bank uses brinks.

Find a different bank for dumping. There is a good chance you'll get totally cut off if you dump at another branch.

I generally get up to 4 boxes at a time with the exception of 1 bank where I get 6. The 4 at a time I just carry out in 1 trip and the 6 I generally make 2 trips. If you plan to use a dolly of some sort make sure you call ahead and run it by the bank.

Not all coin machines accept halves, if you see one at the bank just ask if it accepts them.

Trying to pick up and dump at the same bank isn't just a bad idea, it's just plain stupid. You'd pollute your fishing pond...

Pick up from one bank dump at another. I only get up to 4 boxes from a single bank. I only dump $1000 at a time at a bank. I have 4 dump banks. Some coin counter will accept half and then there is some that will not. So if you have a dump bank and there counter will not accept halfs you may have to reroll them yourself......Matt

- If my order was for more boxes than I could carry in a single trip, I would by all means use a dolly...unless I wanted a little extra exercise.

- Ideally it would be better to dump at a different bank altogether than just simply a different branch of the same bank that you bought the coins. That might cause problems somewhere down the line and you could lose your buying and/or dumping privileges. Also, if you can, you REALLY want to dump at bank that uses a different coin service than your order bank. That gets all your dumps completely out of your system, and you don't have to worry about getting your own dumps back.

- Most coin machines accept half dollars, but not all. The ones that do accept halves "fill" at different amounts. The ones in my area hold $1000 or $500. I have read on this forum of others that fill at only $100.
