Gold in Quartz vein photos

[TAKODA]

Quartz running through pretty altered schist rock . Found a broken
up line of this stuff running along the hill side (dip) similar to the
angle (strike) of the ridge cap . Had to be a break off from some time .
Lot's of it exposed at the surface , just have to rake the leaf and limb
overburden off to see it good . I've been using a pry bar and 4 tine
cultivator rake to pull hunks of it out . I saw the gold on this piece
when I flipped it out and sprayed it off . After soaking and cleaning
( with water , soap and brushes only ) you could see it had fine
visible gold along with the easy to see stuff . Figured I put up a pic
of this one . Probably keep it as is ........ maybe .

I wish those veins were here where we live! That quartz works to the surface(or dirt washes away) and I hit the stuff with the mower! The neighbor is always mowing quartz too...But no sign of gold!

I've sold a few spec pieces before , in my experience there is no formula
for what they are worth . It's pretty much what somebody will give for it .
It's all about looks . The more show gold you got on a nice piece of rock
the more you are likely to get for it . Most people who will buy
a spec piece pay for what they can see , not for what they can't see .
Most of the spec stuff I get comes from breaking up rock . You have
very limited control on how that's going to come out . I like to keep
and collect gold on rock the best I can just for my own preference .
Anyhow .......... I'm not concerned much with what I can sell it for . I don't
mine for a living . Given the dimensions and weight of this particular
piece of rock ..... app. 9 inch by 7 inch with thickness from 2 1/4 to 3 1/2
inch and a weight just shy of 8 lbs. I might chip this one down some and
see what I get .

If you can get your hands on a Falcon 20 detector and scan over it. The rusty brown material might just be chock full of gold. Or get a small microscope and look at it (100X)

As the old timers would say; "The best gold ore looked like a mouth full of rotten teeth" was very true. I thought Alabama was best known for BBQ, sea food and hospitality......and don't forget the gold too!

Fairly easy work to boot Paw-Paw . No hammers or chisels needed
to get it out ..... what I'm taking is already broken up and just kinda
pressed into slide material . It's tight pack but I've pulled a lot of
pieces out with just a pry tool and weed rake . Very little pick-axe
work or scrape work . About the biggest pieces I've taken so far are
football , basketball size . I'm taking the best stuff down to about
baseball size right now but I can see stuff golf ball size that had to
come off the same rock base ..... in my opinion . The hardest part
of my little gold hunt'n world is getting stuff to the truck to haul
home . Just can't set up and work it right on the lands I have access
to . Damn pity .
Seems to be a little catch to everything ay Paw-Paw .
