Gold Plated Brooch and other odds and ends from today's hunt.

Found the gold plated brooch about 6 inches down. Included in this hunt are two 22 super hornet shells, some shot gun shells,one Hawk Brand button a bronze kitchen knife which has been filed to a sharp point, a Brass fitting from a cutting torch and a led bullet.

Nice finds. Love that hawk button. Wonder what the age of that is?

Don't know the age. I'm guessing 1900 - 1920's. I found a piece of iron a few feet away with an 1885 date on it. I believe it is a button from a pair of overalls. The back side with the loop is missing. The Brooch was just a few feet away, too.

That bronze knife is interesting - the blade is bronze too, then. Have you been able to find out anything about it?

Thanks for responding about the knife. You got my curiosity up about it. The closer I looked the more I found out. It is not bronze, but it looked it.
It is nickel silver, which is the third item I have found on this place that is made of nickle silver.
It has the words, New Everwear Brand NS, written on the blade. The print is very small and I missed it. Now I'm researching the brand and age of it. Very interesting and I'm a little upset with myself for missing that.

Sure. That happens to me frequently. Often my first assumptions are either wrong or I'm simply not respectful enough of the object to observe it carefully and treat it carefully. Then later I'm kicking myself in the *ss. Then, sometimes I get even more obsessive about digging up facts about the stuff I dig up, than about finding them and digging them up in the first place.

Do some searching on the overall button. I found one and did some digging to actually find a lot of information. I don't remember how I found the info, but it is there. CooL!

I have searched, but have yet to find the exact button. Found some Hawk Brand but not the same bird.
