I had my suspicions that Aunt Esther was the one who was behind all the ruckus.

Dear GoodyGuy;
Freedom is a wonderful thing my friend, yet along with this wonderful freedom comes the incredibly heavy burden of *responibility*. Freedom without responsibility is nothing more than anarchy, my friend. In the USA we have the freedom to bear arms, yet as time passes and more people abuse this freedom I am afraid that one day this particular freedom may be taken away from individuals for the good of all. If everyone were to remain well within the bounds of their liberties, then they should have no fear of seeing those liberties removed or restricted. It's from abuse of liberty that the liberty becomes restricted or eliminated.
Your friend;
LAMAR

Yes I witnessed plenty of verbal abuse in both the Religion forum as well as the Politics forum.
However, I have never once felt threatened by the freedom to bear arms. Although I would feel very threatened if that liberty were taken away from law abiding citizens. Then only the abusers you warned about would have them.

I am not willing to give up any of the freedoms that the founding fathers of this Nation in their great wisdom have provided for the citizens of America.

I am sorry Lamar that you feel this way, but I hope that you realize that your protest about Catholicism should be in religion, except that that board does no exist. This illustrates the problem. We would not be discussing this here if not for the deletion of the RR. Did you like dealing with those who would argue about your faith in the RR? Did you "escape" back to the regular part of treasurenet for a breather? Well look out General Discussion, Forums, and Charter Members board. It has already started and I am sorry Lamar, but you are at the forefront of it.

It could be taken as a threat, "give us back the rubber room or else"....................Mods know how to fix that and have the power to do so if chaos spreads to the other boards.....

why not just make it so that those who start a thread, can moderate that thread. I've seen this done on other forums, and it seems to work well. Moderators are still needed, but not as much, and those who respond to a thread that they disagree with, tend to do so in less-strident manners.

Now that is an excellent suggestion! :icon_thumleft:

Says the guy with the tiny naked woman in the palm of a hand on his avitar, that I find to be sexist and offensive.
I suppose free speech is ok with you as long as you are not the one being offended. ::)

You want others to practice tolerance, yet you do not tolerate others. :dontknow: :icon_scratch:
The Rubber Room was a place to vent our humanity for better or worse, just like the real world. :icon_thumleft:

Wow, GG, really grasping at straws, aren't we? If a 70 year old, 1940's pulp magazine cover by a renown (by some) artist truly offends you, I'd hate to see what's hanging on your wall. Now if any of the fine woman that detect and post are offended, drop me a pm, and I'll be more than happy to change my avatar.

Besides, she isn't naked, she has an almost diaphanous covering of the finest silk.

Look closer, no closer, there ya go!

It was sexist in the 40's and it's sexist now, and inappropriate for use as an avatar on a family website, in my opinion.
And it speaks to the point I was trying to make, concerning you wanting to police Treasurenet according to YOUR standards. ("A. Doing my best to get certain people banned for their homophobic, racial, or sexist comments and beliefs, and...")

I also believe the Mods are quite capable of handling any situation on their own, without your help.
( "B. Making the Mods realize that the site reflected poorly on the otherwise sane detecting community, and...")

As far as the pictures hanging on my walls are concerned, they are definately not sexist pulp fiction art designed to stimulate prurient interests.

Now as a teenager, well.......... :tongue3:

Apparently the Mods were quite capable of handling the situation, hence no more Rubber Room.
Kudos.
And as far as me doing my best to get certain people banned for their homophobic, racial, or sexist comments and beliefs,
That still stands.
So the avatar isn't appropriate, but the constant racial, homophobic, and just plain ugly comments WERE appropriate, for this family website?

You might want to look again. They're back. Do you still think the mods know what they're doing? Now you can go back to trying to get people banned. Only now everyone knows what you're about.

I miss arguing with the libs. It sounds like the problem was on the religion side. I think the libs here have connections and they got tired of all the butt whippings. With that said, i really like this site. Bring back the political forum and i will become a cm the next day, i might do this anyway. Just having a little fun while watching tv. I haven't had much time for detecting lately and I have been on a dry streak. I made the banner once, that sure felt good. I hope i am not a one hit wonder. I get the magazine.

You are correct, didn't notice that they were back.
And now, frankly I don't think the Mods are knowing what they are doing.
To me, the "Corner", is a half-assed approach to a serious condition. It's like a time out in elementary school. Some of the postings got so filled with vehemence,
ON BOTH SIDES, that a "Corner" is like BP's many ways of trying to stop the spill.
And as far as trying to get people banned for hateful, racial, homophobic, etc., etc.,
that still stands. But I have never, ever ran to the moderators crying and whining if I don't get my way. I've talked to them once, when all that porn-trolling crap was going on.
That's it.
Will I try and bait certain people to get so upset that they show their true colors?
Or should I say truer colors?
Ya betcha.
But in a non-provoking way of "bait", of course.
A friendly, loving way.

Can we see an example of the friendly, loving way to "bait" someone? You know, for learning purposes. :laughing9:

Yes it was. I was just yankin' your chain a little !!! Maybe you didn't even realize it, but I just baited you too. You could have come back with something totally different than what you said, but you didn't. You could have blown up, and ripped me a new one for even saying what I said, but you didn't.

Ahh, you are learning quickly. :notworthy:
Emoticons can also brighten any argument!
