Governor Thomas Kilby of Alabama holds a unique place in the history of the Mint as the first living person on a U.S. coin. This massive break from custom happened with the release of the 1921 Alabama Centennial Half Dollar. Kilby was the sitting governor when the coin was issued, appearing alongside the state's very first governor, William Bibb. It was a bold way to mark a century of Alabama statehood and remains one of the most significant "rule-breakers" in any commemorative silver collection. This coin is also notable because it was designed by Laura Gardin Fraser, the first woman to ever design a U.S. coin.

YES!!! we need to go back to THIS! (my favorite) ... just a simple rendition of freedom

all the same for dime, quarter, half and dollar! AND stop printing dollar bills and start with $2 and maybe even $5 coins. Japan uses a 500 yen and it is very useful... of course they also have all sorts of vending machines EVERYWHERE!

I wish they would make the reverse look less like the kennedy reverse, they look the same. In general I feel like the beauty of coin designs have fallen since the end of the mercury dime.

The Winged Liberty Dime is, indeed, a very good looking coin. In my opinion, the most beautiful US coins made for circulation is the Walking Liberty Half dollar, followed by the Indian Head (Buffalo) nickel, the Indian Head Cent, and the Winged Liberty dime in fourth.

Other opinions are fine, by i will disagree.

Once Most Disappear when their owners Die ,

I've Received 3 new Dimes in Change So Far
as I said I don't look at Quarters on Purpose.
I Do cull & Keep 1976 quarters when I catch One, But Don't purposly Look for them
