At current gold prices, a new one dollar coin made from actual gold would be about a third the size of a dime. Seems that would be easier to lose. Whether that's a good thing or not depends on whether you like using a metal detector.

Not at all, just pointing out that most Trump collectibles end up being worthless, regardless of who issued them. By the way, the mintage on the coin is at least 8,750,000, so definitely not rare or limited.

The US Mint states they had 150,000 25 coin rolls and 50,000 100 coin bags for sale. I believe that works out to 8,750,000 coins to start. They also state there is no specified limit to the coin, so they could produce many more copies of it.

According to mint, coins are sold out and they now have backlog of orders so the will be producing more. Sold out in 24 hours..

I think that represents folk that think these will have collector value over time.... not even necessarily that much mark up. If you go on ebay you can see lots of current coins for sale with minimal prices.... folks making a few dollars at a time.

Unfortunately, this happens with almost all new coin releases. Same thing happens with baseball cards. Greedy dealers try to buy up all the supply and then sell the item for 10 times what they paid for it. I'm all for making a buck, but not marking things up 1000%.

Down to a low of $3.50 a coin with free shipping on eBay now. I think the speculators are realizing that 8.75 milllion coins is not a limited number of coins and they're dumping them.
