First of all i just want to say that i am amazed at the friendliness on this site. I posted for the first time today and got an overwhelming response. Such that i felt compelled to post a pic of some of my first months finds. so far 185 pennies (7 wheat ,1917 20 28 43 50 54 and 56) 1941 Canadian 1 cent, 1982 Hong Kong 20 cent piece and 1 Buffalo Nickel with no date.(244 coins) 1 ring costume a batman car lol and lots and lots of nails and odd metal. I will post as often as i can but with a 6 year old a 5 year old and a 4 year old it wont be as often as i would like. I am on vacation this week and have enjoyed the communication of this site..... ok....p.s i dont think i can get my picture to load can i get some help figuring out how to post a pick.......until i dig again.........

Hello. You have done very well for being a new treasure hunter, congratulations.

If you search through the Home page of this website, you'll find a section devoted to posting photographs. You might find lots of good info about how to take photos, how to post photos, and how to crop, edit, etc. Does your camera have a macrofocus option? If so, learning how to use it would probably help with closeups. If not, you might try using your scanner for posting pix.

If you can change the lens on your camera put a wide angle macro lens on it this will allow you to get very close and be in focus..... you'll be amazed at the detail you'll see on your closeup pics ..... BTW I'm no professional lol

I am a professional and hes so right!

Set your camera to macro (if it has that setting) read the manual for the closest distance and put your camera on a tripod. That should help

Keep digging & practice them pictures ;)

If you don't have a macro capable camera, here what to do... First was mentioned earlier use a tripod or rest the camera against something to steady it... THAT IS IMPORTANT!! I don't have that option on my camera, so I shoot through a magnifying glass.. Set it up to get the best focus and try to center you lens right in the middle of the magnifying glass.. Best if shot using sunlight.. Make sure you don't cast any shadows over the coin... Then I zoom a couple clicks and shoot.. One big point to make is to take ALOT OF SHOTS!!! Thats the biggest secret for us amateurs!!! Vary the settings and the zoom then look for the pic you want and delete the rest.. Just what I use till I get a better camera..
