Good clubs in the Auburn, Colfax, Nevada City areas?

I'm in Texas but have the ability to travel often to California to prospect. Grew up in Folsom and did lots of sluicing back in the 70's and then the late 80's. Am looking to get back into some back-breaking labor and find some gold in the Mother Lode!

Where to start? After reading this forum a bit it seems getting with a club is a good idea.

Is there an active club in the Auburn, Colfax, Nevada City areas you would recommend?

Auburn Goldhounds is the biggest & best and has a great website. Absolute non profit with outings ,meetings, demos and lots of righteous retired folks who like to go and are in the know to keep you out of trouble. Anything going on the weekend before Thanksgiving? I'm thinking of coming out and would like to learn from the folks at Mother Lode Gold Hounds.
