Good day for Roman Pottery+a Monster

Back in the Villa field again. 4+ hours with the big coil and i had to change back... Not much more showed up, i was looking for the missing part of the roman caserole with no success. A couple keepers and lots of pottery made it a good day. A roman brooch and the monster are the top finds.

What is the monster head for? Looks kind of 19th C??

Good questions! I hoped you can help! The lead thing could be a button. And the monster? Has very little gilt left at the eye, 19th C? What could that been for?

Is the stem part of the monster hollow? if so possibly a fountain type item.....Joe McDonough
