Howdy all,
I do believe this is my best week ever. I headed out this mornin with only an hour or so to hunt. My favorite field was in use, so I went to the smaller one just above it. This is the first time I have hunted this particular field as I am not done with the lower one yet. The lower one belongs to the High School, and the upper to the Junior High. The trash is much more dense in this field until you get about 20 feet in from the edge. So I worked right along the edge of the trash line. This would be where all the players throw all their gear, and the spectators sit. I started as usual gettin clad and trash right off the bat. About 15 minutes in I get the junk cross, and a little junk pendant. Then I get a huge fishin weight with swivels still attached. its at least 10 ounces. We use these on the Chehalis river to fish for sturgeon. Just shows ya never know what your gonna get. About 10 minutes after that, I get the glint of gold. This piece was just under the surface. I rely heavily on my pro-pointer and use it to locate anything up to 3 inches deep without digging. I used to use a probe and had to take more time. The pro-pointer has made my target recovery only a few seconds per item. This lets me recover as much as possible, with little effort. I really concentrated on the area around the cross, but no chain was to be found. Gonna head back this evening and see what else is there. Thanks for lookin, and luck in the hunt.
