I found this a while back and recently came across it again. I have decided I really want to know what it is. Does anyone have any idea what it could be? Two of the pictures are in regular indoor lighting and two are of my flashlight lighting it up.

Do a hardness test on the first one. With quartz.

The second one (green) is possibly glass.

Sulphides. I'd guess pyrite among other. Looks promising from a miners perspective.

Looks like a granite-like thing with garnets. Perhaps granulite would fit the bill?

Some pictures I took today of a couple of rocks I found in a vein. The clear glassy quartz had black sulfides in it, and what appeared to be gold or pyrite in the sulfides. The other rock had gold I think and something that looked like small BB's in it. They are metallic looking. All these are small taken with macro lens. What are the BB's, and do you think the sulfides have gold?

Guess the mods would have to deal with that. But on one end it might be useful to know what you've found. (presuming it is related to mining)

Hi Thanks for offering this - i have three rocks i am struggling to find what they are the first two are very very light with a little appearance of wood. any ideas? The third one is an interesting stone, is is raw Amber? My daughter is into rocks, minerals and fossils but not so good at keeping records - so not sure where she got it but probably in the UK
Any help greatly appreciated

you guys can look at pictures of rocks to find golden crumbs i will stick to crushing n panning, good luck finding the mother load.

What s the third.

the first is galena, just haven't seen it at my mine, ( thanks Austin) what is the second The third is the galena gold silver copper from my mine, The forth sets the metal detector off and I think it's a sand stone that settled with high deposits of copper. It has clear blue crystals in it. So not what's the third corrected what is the one on the right and the bottom right that looks like sandstone with blue oxides that look like copper? Is it just sandstone with copper oxide? Would copper oxidized into blue green crystals in it?

Pretty piece of pyrite.. Probably get you $5 or so at a rock shop... And the ball looks like an old ball out of a ball mill.. Saw a truck the other day heading to one of the
mines with thousands of new ones on the back..

Found this along the eel river at a loss for what it is blue seems chalk looking belive under stone would be some sort of jade but not positive

I found out that this could be Baculite fossile. Baculites is an extinct cephalopod genus with a nearly straight shell, included in the heteromorph ammonites. The genus, which lived worldwide throughout most of the Late Cretaceous period, here is an example ( FossilsForSale.com presented by EXTINCTIONS Inc. )
