...was wondering if this triangle thing is some kind of symbol that anyone's seen before?

...and this is pretty unusual, looks like it was a 3D "Z" !?

...thanks for looking & helping...:)

Is the triangle actually done on purpose or does it look to be a accident like a chip in the paint?

...it's actually painted on, not a boo-boo rock. My first thought was maybe a mountain?

Well could be a mountain if you have them there where you live at. Could be a mound to if you have them. Must of been something special for who ever made the dish. I guess you will have to find more of it might be a treasure map of sorts.

JMO a lot of Native Americans related to geometric design's, it could be just a shape that was used, but it is a dang cool find:notworthy:

rock....yes we do have mountains around & hills surrounding also. No mounds that I know of though. I do have some more sherds in a box, think I'll check to see if any are part of this one. "Treasure map".....:icon_pirat:...lol...would be nice!

painter....thanks! :)

monsterrack.....yes...more than likely a design. I was looking at it again and that "arch" & white part surrounding the "triangle/mt." almost looks like clouds maybe...think I'm making to much of it...lol

I wonder why they didn't finish the "hole" that was started on it in the corner? It doesn't go all the way through.

Don't know if anyone will see this but just found out something about that marking on the sherd. I got a little booklet of SW NA symbols and there's 2 little black triangles, one points up...meaning "day" and one pointing down meaning night! That round arch kind of does look like it could be a cloud...so?

golden sluice....thanks...trying.;)

naturegirl.....could be a sun, that's in the "day". lol But looks like the "cloud/sun" goes back up on the right...could even have continued all around the bowl in a "scalloped" pattern maybe?
