Cool right? I’m guessing that it’s made of some type of fossil imbedded stone.

We don’t see coral this far up north. But, I’m not really sure what the material is.

I think KG is on the right track. That may be phenocrysts instead of fossilized marine life in that material. Check out some of the images of "basalt porphyry with feldspar phenocrysts"...

Yes. May be more likely than basalt. Potatoes, potahtoes.

Thanks for that link. Some of the examples do have a strong resemblance. Is anyone aware if basalt is a common material for plummets?

Thank you. To your point, that is a small area at the bottom of a washed out outcropping of rock along the sea coast. The site is a mess with debris from modern times and some from ancient occupation.
It’s a hard look. But it’s rewarding at times.
