I just cleaned up them. Both largies. One is 1821, the other no date. I forgot what the round thing in the second picture is. I have a few of them, someone wanna refresh my memory? And what would that bell be used for?

When I saw the size I was just taking a guess. Nice score. 2 LC is a good find.

Yeah, the only reason I was wondering is because one is quite a bit thinner than the other. Funny thing is, the second one, I didn't dig. I went to the way back of the field where I haven't been before and there was a hole full of ice cold muddy water that looked some other detectorist had been there, but I saw no other signs anywhere that there had been. And, up until the past couple days the place was impossible to hunt back there. I ran my detector over the hole, got a nice reading and just stuck my hand in and pulled it out. :O

...Otherwise known as a terret.

Nice digs for sure! Large Cents can vary by a few millimeters, especially the early dates. Corrosion can eat away at them and cause them to be grossly underweight as well. My last LC fooled me as it was only 2 inches deep and was a mid-range signal that was more like a Zincoln or an Indian Head. Man was I surprised!

way to go dave! copper count 2 for the year so far for you. i was hoping to get out this week but work surfaced. im thinking the week end. willy

Nice bell...and musket ball...yep, I'd be doing a happy dance. Keep digging
