After seeing the weather report for Coin Beach Deleware area, we cancelled a trip south and instead I spent 5 1/2 hrs today detecting a local pool with Jeff of Pa. After making a generous donation earlier in the summer, they were more than happy to open the gates and let us back in.
Total for the day= 45 pennies, 21 quarters, 32 dimes, 30 nickels for a total of 128 coins.
a button cover possibly, with a picture of a woman surrounded by stars
also managed a heavy chunk of a bracelet, not sure if it is silver or junk
and 3 rings. The heavy one is marked .925 and is chunky as heck. The stones are gorgeous and I'm taking them to be checked this week to see if I scored some real diamonds! 1carat center stone and 6 1/8carat stones beside it. Keeping my fingers crossed as I know a few women sporting silver engagement rings with real diamonds

hope its real keep us posted

Nice coin grab Den!!

I sure hope that big one is all real!!

Congrats!

Dave

That ring looks real to me, but like you said, the silver band could be the giveaway for fakes, but hey, weirdest things have been dug up with detectors. If that sucker is real, easily $,$$$.$$ Good luck.................Rich

No Pictures will do Justice to that ring.

i never seen a Fake so Clear And Bright
That's for sure.

Hopefully it's real.

Nice Chunk-O-Change TOO !

I'm worn Out :laughing7: :coffee2:

OH, & DK Says we Missed all the Change ;D
You can't swing your detector without Hitting More :D

that is a sweet ring

As you know, most stones in silver rings turn out to be CZ's, however, don't get all down in the dumps yet :laughing7: I found a honker of a silver ring 2 months ago with ice in it. Figured they had to be fake. Well, turns out they weren't :headbang: They were a LOT more real than Dolly Partons boobs, that's for sure :laughing7: They weren't worth much due to the size & poor clarity, but, ice is ice. So, don't lose hope. Oh yeah, yours looks a LOT better than mine did. I'm no jeweler, but, I'd say yours are the real mccoy

Nice pile for both you guys.
I wouldn't venture a guess on a picture.
How does it do on a breath test ?

Rick,

clears up in about one second, if that. Also, light passing through it remains gray in color. All the "in home" tests tell me it is either real or a heck of a knock off!

Cool, fingers crossed.

I don't find many diamonds, (1 only @ 10 points) but one of those testers would be a good investment. Save all that killer suspence.

well, just got back from the jewelery shop here in the town where I work. He told me it is a 1970-era top quality CZ >:(
said it is one of the better one's he's ever seen and then proceeded to offer me $150 for the ring. I turned it down and will add this to my growing collection of finds. BUMMER :dontknow: Would have been hard to top this one had it been real, so I guess the bright side is that I can only go up from here :icon_thumright:

Don't know how good a "friend" your jeweler is, and I'm not accusing him of anything, but the offer makes me suspicious.

"one of the better ones he's ever seen" hmmm, more suspicion. Being synthesized, probably from the same process, wouldn't they all be extremely similar ? Or even identical, with exception of colored ones ?

I would still get my own tester. Just in case there was motive in his determination. Sure it wouldn't be the first time something similar has happened, like swapping stone while cleaning. I never once seen a line up at the check out at any jewelry store, for that matter a single person at the check out, yet they manage to stay open, and make money somehow ?

Rick, I'm right with you. It was a VERY odd feeling when the money offer went down. Seemed like 3 times the amount the ring is worth, so I will be holding on to it and getting a 2nd and possibly 3rd opinion and I will also be purchasing my own diamondometer thingie :D.

I got offered nothing on the piece I mentioned above when I took it to the jeweler's, so, you did better than me  Oh yeah, if the jeweler offered you $150, that means it's probably a $300 to $400 ring IMO :icon_sunny: Still a superb find. Had me fooled too. I really thought that thing was the real deal :icon_scratch:

njnydigger, that is what has me stumped. The ring is chunky, but it sure isn't a few hundreds dollars worth of silver chunky. CZ's are a dime a dozen so the offer price just has me scratching my head making me wonder if there is more he isn't telling me. Maybe the side diamonds are real? Come to think of it, i never asked him that, i was only concerned about the big papa in the center ;D
