Grouse

A grumpy Ruffed Grouse in the woods behind my house this morning. He's been hanging out in that same spot for a few days. I set up a camera trap aimed at the place where he sits on that log hoping to get a picture of him doing that drumming thing they do. Should know in a day or so.

I haven’t heard any drumming here yet but I’ve been shutting my window when below freezing temps in early morning.
Have you heard or seen them drum before? It is a neat site and not that hard to find, here.

very neat birds, not very wise to predators though, guess thats why the season is only 2 days long in california
