Got out one more time before the snow hits my area. The highlight of the day was the 1789 George Washington inaugural button at the last site of the day. Also got some ornate colonial buckles, as well as 9 buttons in a single hole at another site. The snowy pic is actually one of the cellar holes that gave up the goods.

Congratulations on some great finds. Looks like you did really well for all the vegetation and cold you had to dig through.

I especially like the toy British soldier for some reason.

It truly never gets old seeing these old GW buttons return to the surface! :occasion14:
My dream would be to join the elite club of those who have found them...

How did you treat the surface of it to make it look less dry in that photo?

I’ve found two and one found in another current thread has people screaming banner banner!! The variety I found and the one in the other thread are nice and all but the common chicken hawk variety and not in my opinion “Banner” . Yours however is a much rarer variety and I hope receives banner consideration. Beautiful find .

I also believe that the "Long Live the President" varieties date exclusively to the 1st election of 1789 - not Washington's re-election. This is a terrific find invoking a historic event that is still repeated today 230+ years ago.

It varies from button to button. The ones on eBay are usually between $2000-$4000. So I would think a conservative estimate for a dug GW might be around $1000?
