Hands up, you mugs. You're under arrest! (Now cleaned)
Hi,
A beautiful day in Virginia! Hope you're having the same.
Went out to an old road nearby that has had the brush removed from one side and did some swinging. Along with 5-10 nice golf balls (max-fli and titleist) was this Dick Tracy cap gun and it was just laying on the ground. It's in pretty good shape, springs intact, not quite working though, and a small crack on the other side. I'll see if I can get the lime off without hurting the surface.
Could'a found it with a broom.
Jim
Update: Used diluted lime-away and toothbrush then rubbed with a light machine oil. Looks quite good now. Seems most like one from 1940. Another from 1960 looks very different. Several found on the web. This one might be worth $10. It's made with 'pot' metal.
Another update: Now I think this is a 1950 version. See: http://www.toyguns4u.com/pictures5.html
The 1950 and 40 item look alike and the 60 one is quite different. The website mentions the 40 as being cast iron which, mine is not.
Thanks for looking everyone!!
