Decided to go out the day before my birthday and celebrate with my favorite hobby. Hit a school which had been there since the 1950s. 2 hour hunt produced these four silver, including my personal white whale: the silver GW. I hadn't found one of these in almost 2 years and this is only the third I've found in almost 4 years of hunting. The Virgin Mary pendant weighs 9.5g and is marked, "Hayward Sterling". These are silver rings #17 and #18. The school is condemned--no longer in use(you can see a little of the fence barricades in the pic). This is not a virgin site. But this one, obviously, hasn't been scoured to smithereens as almost all the other schools have been. I can see why the pendant was passed over: it was buried deep and next to a fence; the signal was faint. One of the rings gave off a borderline penny signal. The quarter was just lucky never to have been discovered...it wasn't buried deep. My favorite hunt since I found the Walking Liberty half dollar over 2 years ago. HH.

That'a a great day out! The last pic reminds me of a closed school we were hitting a few years back. The place had been hit before we showed but it was still producing, so we kept going back. We had finally cleaned out the high tones and one day we decided to go back and dig up mid tones. I got a 14k White gold band with three diamonds. Went again on another day and i got another gold ring.
Food for thought!
Grats and HH ALL

Congrats on all the silvers. Your silver looks pretty good down there in Tucson, but around the Phoenix area it comes out with a crappy grey crust on it and is hard to get it off.

Yeah, Tom, it's ironic the timing on this....and how it all worked out.
