Hi all, Im new to this I just got my detector a couple weeks ago and im trying it out in the yard. Our soil here in Shelby county is very hard packed(at least in my yard) how do you dig a neat plug if I cant even get my digger to cut the plug?

Thanks for any advice :icon_scratch:

I usually just take a big shovel and cut a big circle the size of my coil but don't disconnect the grass from the dirt completely.I then turn the divot over and see if the object is in the divot or still in the dirt. That way I can put the plug back in fairly neatly. Welcome to TN by the way!

I normally wait for the weather to warm up or the ground to soften up a bit!

Thanks you guys. Coily I'm in ky not tn. I wish I was in Tenn. I thought that was where we were going when my hubby said he was being transferred to Shelbyville. I do like it here tho

Lol duh? Sorry I'm a dingbat! LOL

Hey HouseMom6, I am kinda in the same boat as you, even on the best warmest/wettest day here in Georgia I find it hard to dig a plug. Well I just broke down and got me a Raven 25
The Raven

If this cant cut me plug, the next move is blasting caps

That is a bad ass digger. Lol

Yes. Yes it is.
