Saw an article in last month's issue of "Western & Eastern Treasures" about dive boots. Of course, I've given away my issue and now need the info on the boots.

Can anyone help? Just need the name of the company that makes/sells the boots. (Don't need the actual article.) My husband wants a pair for when we beach hunt up here in New England.

Any suggestions for what works for you is also much appreciated!

Thanks for your help.

I Like NRS boots....I like the felt bottoms but several places they are not allowed but they are good for rocky beachs. Also pick him up some zipper wax for the shoes

Men > Footwear > Water Shoes at nrs.com

I like these Oceanic 6.5 molded sole diving classic boot. Amazon.com: Oceanic Neo Classic 6.5mm Boots - Size 10: Sports & Outdoors
Oceananic Dive boots.webpYou won't feel any rocks through the soles. I used to wear fisherman's wader boots but the brass nails kept setting off the Excal.

I like the Mares 6.5 as well.

Thanks for the suggestions. Will check them all out. Husband is still looking for the brand named in the article in Western & Eastern Treasure magazine (June? July? 2013)

Again, thanks for the help.

The brand in the W & E article were Neosports.

Those are all great suggestions. I use the ScubaPro 5mm Delta Medium Sole Zipper Dive Boots. Nothing fancy, but they get the job done.

I didn't read the article. However, I use Seasoft Stealth 6mm molded sole dive boots. They have a built in arch and seem to be true to size. I found that walking on the beach in soft dive booties was putting stress on my feet. the thicker sole dive boots solved that problem and the pain in my feet went away. You could do a search for dive boot rating and you might come across the name of the manufacturer you are looking for. Happy Hunting.

Whatever boots you decide on, use socks with them. feel great when you're walking for 4 hours. I use the IST Proline Titanium hardsole from Seavenger.com. great prices! Ray

Neosports have some socks that keep your feet warm, poly- something, I can't remember.

I got this brand too. They don't come in half sizes but I always wear socks to prevent sand blisters. Got em from Amazon too

What type socks work best: Cotton, wool, synthetic.
Also are they high/low top.

WET actually sent me a copy of the article after I phoned them. Neosport Explorer boots are the ones my husband is actually looking at. Thanks for the suggestions on other brands. He already knew about wearing socks (a long time water hunter told him this). Another tip he was given: wear elastic elbow "braces" around the top of the boots to keep sand and small stones out. (Buy the really cheap braces - dollar store version - because they have lots of stretch).

Thanks again for all your help!

I just received a pair of Seasoft TI Stealth boots from DolphinScuba, these cost more than most but fit and appear well made. I wore out a pair of Henderson boots, lasted for years until the tops separated from the sole. Had a pair of Ocean Pro, the insides fell apart in a few weeks. I like the Velcro zipper keeper on the Seasoft, the Henderson's I had to sew a hook and eye at the top to keep the zipper from falling down all the time. I will not know how good the Seasoft are until walking in them for 10 hours, but they address all the issues I had with the others. Of all the challenges of detecting, footwear has been the hardest. It is worth paying a little more not to have bloody toes at the end of the day. Thanks for recommending this brand.

Va.Max suggested Lycra scoks ,Ive been using them no more blisters.

Thanks for the advice. Husband is busy checking out all the different brands available.
