Has anyone here ever traveled to other countries solely for treasure hunting?

I'm curious to know if any of you have ever gone on expeditions to follow treasure leads far away from your home, perhaps even traveling overseas. I remember watching a documentary once about some British amateur treasure hunter who traveled all the way to Vietnam during the 80s in search of what I believe was Captain Kidd's treasure. I wonder how many treasure hunters like to broaden their horizons in such a way.

This is awesome, very inspiring stuff. I got my open water scuba certification last spring, and I’ve been considering taking up underwater detecting. Got any good products you would recommend for the hobby?
