Hello All,

There will be a lot of info in this post--but there will also be some excellent finds photos and a lot of good memories...

HB went on a hunt and dug yet another seated this year--a nice 1842-O dime. He has had the horseshoe stuck somewhere. :D Here are a few photos of the coin coming up:

I have now moved away from KY, and said my "goodbye's" to the IRON Brigade in person, but I wanted to say a bit more here...

So, how many people do you know that have lost 3 vehicles due to metal detecting? One via car accident, one through transmission failure on a diggin trip, and one was killed by a tree. One of the scariest moments ever! Take a look at the carnage:

Folks, I've been lucky to be here--and lucky to dig with such a great group of folks.

Kindafoundabuckle--I owe it to you for getting me back into this fine hobby after a bit of a break. Kentucky can probably take us off the "Most Wanted" list now. Arby's can relax a bit. :D This old post pretty much sums it up:

http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,124881.0.html

HB--I can't tell ya how much I've enjoyed hunting with you on so many trips and adventures. You have been on Fire this year with your finds, and I hope you can keep the streak up for a while. Of course, I also hope you cool down eventually and let KFB dig something.

Rodeo and Bonzaibrandi--Thank you for sticking with me through the learning process of honing my skills at finding sites in KY. It was a tough ride at first, but I couldn't have done it without you two.

Coinmaster--I've enjoyed your humor and good spirits. They make the great hunts even more fun, and the skunk hunts easier to deal with.

Diggergirl--I get to take you with me, so fortunately this is not goodbye yet. :-*

What an incredible 2 1/2 years we've had... Here are links to the annual finds posts:

I figure we've knocked on well over a THOUSAND doors, and met almost as many people through our hobby. I've become a walking phone directory of one particular county... and I even know who is related to who and which person is whose ex-wife, remarried. :D

We've dug over 2,600 lbs of iron.

In doing some brief tallies of the finds for the past two and a half years, I came up with a few numbers:

40 Large Cents
5 Spanish Silvers
1783 Nova Constellatio Copper
1829 Half Cent
3 Flying Eagle Cents
14 Seated Coins, including a Seated Quarter and a Seated Half Dollar
1 Morgan Dollar
1 Large 20 Kreutzer Silver from the 1820s
10 Shield Nickels
3 2-cent Pieces
5 Barber Dimes
1 Beautiful Barber Quarter

NINE military buckles and plates ranging from the 1810s through the Civil War
27 Eagle Buttons
Complete set of KY Staff buttons
1808 pattern Artillery Button
Confederate Block "I" button (cast)
Virginia State Seal button
2 complete Lock Plates from early muskets

G.A.R. Badge

1840 William Henry Harrison campaign button
1860 Abraham Lincoln campaign token
$500 James H. Miller stoneware jug
2 Railroad Locks from the 1800s worth several hundred dollars apiece

I'm sure the totals have a mistake or two, but they're pretty darned close. Here are some of the hunts that really stand out in my memory. For all those of you who are shut-in and dealing with the heat this summer, enjoy:

You have done great in Ky, and I know your new home will be just as productive for you. I hope the move is/was smooth, and I am looking forward to more southern discoveries from you soon. Hopefully later this year we can go dig some together down that way.
Anthony

Moving always seems to be bitter sweet. It will however make any future hunts in KY that much more fun! Good post Boucle garçon!

What a post, Buck! :headbang: I really enjoyed it to the depths of my detecting heart. Part of your soul will still be in KY, but Louisiana has its arms open for BuckleBoy and I can bet the farm that BuckleBoy is ready to dig that Southern state up. :hello: :headbang: :hello2: Were there any tears on the farewell?

Keep the passion high!

That's 2 1/2 years of excellent finds but even more than that are these great friendships you have built BB.. As I said before, it was a great pleasure meeting you on my way out to Missouri and always a great pleasure to have you on the phone to share some excitement when nice things are coming out of the ground here. I do hope you will return the favor when you get to location "B" and dig that first Rebel button. Great post BB, and thanks again. You are one hell of a good guy. Jeff

Buckles,

Great post, and look forward to your future posts.
Hope everything goes smoothly in your move, and that you land somewhere where it rains iron and buckles right in the front yard.

Dwayne

Great post BB. Best of luck to you at your new location. Be looking forward to seeing some new finds from you.

It'll be a little while on the new discoveries. I'm pretty swamped right now...

Thanks for the reply, my friend. :)

I'm not quite there yet--so hold the French for a few more months. Once I get there, it's on. ;D

I've moved a lot over the years, Kirk. The hardest thing is to do all the research over from square one. I would've been digging stuff on the research I'd done in KY for a decade. A new location is a new start.

A Lifetime of memories and great finds there BB. Great post. I have only one question-Who is General of the Iron Brigade now? One piece of advice: Stay out of those bars in Alabama-LOL. Thanks for the posts from KY. I have learned a lot and look forward to seeing relics from Louisiana in the Fall. HH, Quindy.

Buck, ever since I saw your transformation into a vanished house site hunter, I knew you were going to be in a class of your own! Your site pictures inspired me to do the same out in the field!

I bet all of the IB'ers will shed a tear when the fall season arrives and BB is not there to enjoy the relics and coins with them. Buck, you were a great team member of the years, and I bet they all would agree!

When you see that "Welcome to Louisiana" sign after crossing the state line, it is just a sign...of what is to come! ;D Acadian sites will be found, early french silvers will be dug, and a top-dog in Colonial will be born! Buck, you will be the first Colonial hunter I've ever seen out of LA! I can't wait to join you on your expeditions! :headbang:

Kyle

Congrats on the nice finds. Good luck on your new move and happy hunting.

Good luck Buck. I'm sure that we have not seen the last of your detecting escopades. New location , some new friends and definitely some more killer site finds. Looking forward to see you log on with some La. coins and relics.
Chris

Always enjoyed your posts, Buckleboy, and this one will serve as a heck of a "go to" thread about the adventures and accomplishments of the IB.

So, where ya headed?

"I bid farewell to old Kentucky, the place where I was born and raised".

Umm, well, I know you weren't BORN there, but you get the point.

Hey Buckleboy Great Post. I hope the move goes well for you and hope you are able to find some good diggin' buddies in LA. No need to say I hope you find some good relics because I know you will.
