Picture 1 is the good stuff from last 2 hunts. Picture 2 is the heart breaker fake crap 💩

Ive spared every one the pounds of trash, vapes, bottle caps, clad, and pull tabs. Did find an incredible work of mother nature....a clad quarter fused to a piece of encrusted jewelry (possibly silver pendant). It's a non magnetic piece with coral and shells with a quarter all together in conglomerate. I will keep it how it is and not separate the pieces or clean it.

Check out the video to see the fused conglomerate in better detail. The new EQX 700 is on fire and I've got gold on every hunt since it showed up. The old fisher m-scope 1280-x doesn't hold a candle to the 700, and I was struggling on gold using this old machine. I was stubborn and wanted to prove to myself that I could do as good with this old tech. Well that was a mistake, and as soon as I switched back to the 700 the gold was right where I thought it should be...the old tech was nowhere near the 700, and I learned a valuable lesson.

I love these little treasures. Im amazed at how fast mother nature can create these little encrusted pieces....very nice collection Mark....always cool to see something a little different from most finds 🫡

I watch the renourishment sand from the beach cams, and my friends send me updates....still looks not that great in terms of erosion, but all my friends with contracts are finding good stuff this summer. Can't wait to get back up there. Water clarity they say has been the best in years I'm hearing !!

Well...it seems everyone has adjusted to the high gold prices by wearing a lot of gold tone pieces instead of the real thing while at the beach or swimming.....most of my good finds have been small golds. Nothing of any weight for me yet ... so many fakes and costume pieces this year.

The new EQX 700 is on fire and I've got gold on every hunt since it showed up. The old fisher m-scope 1280-x doesn't hold a candle to the 700, and I was struggling on gold using this old machine. I was stubborn and wanted to prove to myself that I could do as good with this old tech. Well that was a mistake, and as soon as I switched back to the 700 the gold was right where I thought it should be...the old tech was nowhere near the 700, and I learned a valuable lesson.

Damn BB, you never cease to impress with your finds! Glad to hear that your NOX 700 is kicking butt, and I think you may have taught me a valuable lesson as well.

I've been swinging a Minelab Sovereign Elite with 12x10 & 15x12 SEF Butterfly coils for the last 16 or so years, and early last year, I picked up an X-Terra Elite to have as a backup and also for land hunting/coinshooting. After I got the X-Terra, I was fortunate to pick up a Dual Field PI that OBN previously owned & modded. But since I'm a simple old school, audio only, twist the knobs kinda guy, I think I only have about an hour or two on land with my X-Terra, haven't tried it on the beach yet as I always instinctively reach for my Sovereign & DF PI when hitting the beach.

When I bought the X-Terra Elite, I also looked at the 700, 900 & Manticore, could have bought either one. I knew the Manti was Minelab's new top-of-the-line detector, but as a simple, knob twister guy, I guess I didn't want to put my brain through the learning curve to figure that one out, lol. So, it was down to the X-Terra, 700 & 900. But while comparing the X-Terra Elite, 700 & 900, I noticed the vast majority of specs for all 3 were identical. The only differences I saw were in "features", like the X-Terra & 700's sensitivity goes to 25, but on the 900 it goes to 28. I never run sensitivity full out, so I wouldn't use those extra 3 levels. And the cost of coils for the 700 & 900 are twice the price of X-Terra's ($250 vs $125), so there's probably something going on there. There were a few other features where the 900 had more expanded ranges than the 700, which had more than the X-Terra, but I like simple so I went with the X-Terra Elite, as it was the simplest of them all.

I guess I've been using my Sovereign for so long that I'm a bit stuck in my ways. The Dual Field PI is a different beast, so I have no problem ditching the Sovereign for the Dual Field when hunting the wet and shallow water, that is, only after I run my Sovereign over the wet first, to determine if there's a lot of iron present. If so, I'll continue using my Sov. But if there's not a lot of iron, I'll swap for the PI. I've just been having a psychological problem putting the Sov & DF down to give the X-Terra a try. But based on your comments, maybe I've been missing out and need to force myself to run that X-Terra Elite over the wet and in shallow water, see how it performs. And since my Sovereign isn't waterproof, I have to be really careful when taking it into shallow water, but the X-Terra is fully waterproof, along with my Dual Field, so if I used the X-Terra along with my DF PI, I wouldn't have to worry about either of them getting dunked or when hunting in the rain. Looks like I'm gonna have to force myself to start using the X-Terra Elite. Hopefully, I'll have a similar experience to you and will be pleasantly surprised.

Your DF will probably find everything the others will find. It's drawback is wasting time digging junk targets. To me, it's a numbers game. I want to dig as many "good" sounding targets as I can in a given time period. The more good targets you dig, the likely one of them is going to be a prize. With the competition out there, I want to get to the good stuff before they get to it, and not spend 10 minutes digging a rusty nail at 2 feet down.

Gold & Silver are rising again; Gold's up $173 in the last week. Experts predict Gold rising to $10K or higher. If so, as prices continually rise, it leaves more & more young guys stressing about buying an engagement/wedding ring. That's probably one of the reasons we've seen a surge in SS, Titanium & Tungsten jewelry. I find it interesting that society buys tons of used things; old coins, musical instruments, cars, boats, RV's, houses, furniture, clothes, eBay anyone, lol. We have pawn shops, thrift stores, Goodwill's, all kinds of places that sell used stuff. And many businesses that sell new, also offer used, i.e., new car dealers also sell used cars.

With Gold prices continuing to rise, I'm curious why jewelry hasn't become an ingrained part of our "buying used" culture. Yeah, you can get used jewelry in a pawn shop, but some might find that a bit "cheesy". But overall, IMHO, buying used jewelry isn't something that's been accepted into society's way of thinking like buying a used car. Maybe that will change if/when Gold hits $10K, as that's used car territory, lol. Maybe it's an emotional thing & a guy would feel "cheesy" if he bought his fiancée' a used engagement/wedding ring. But with prices continuing to rise out of reach of many, maybe what was once thought as "cheesy" will eventually turn around to becoming acceptable. I think it might just be a matter of perception.

Ideally, just my wish/hope, I'd like to see a professional industry spring up with large jewelry reconditioning businesses staffed with professional jewelers. They would buy used jewelry, test & grade the Gold/Silver content, make any repairs & recondition the jewelry back to new condition, and offer a certification & guarantee for each piece. They could sell totally reconditioned pieces for much less than buying new and could either sell direct or act as a supplier to local jewelry shops so they could offer lower priced jewelry to customers unable to afford buying new. I think this would ease people's minds about buying used jewelry, as it would be a totally professional operation (reconditioned, certification, warranty), not "cheesy" like buying jewelry at a pawn shop.

And since these professional reconditioning businesses would need to continually source used jewelry, that would give us beach hunters a new outlet to sell our jewelry finds, along with less headaches & work on our part. For instance, instead of us having to remove diamonds or other stones (what do we do with those?), then send the bare metal to a refiner for melt value, we could sell the complete ring including stones which would bring us higher prices than melt. IMO, everybody wins. We get more outlets to sell our complete jewelry finds for higher prices, the reconditioning businesses get a constant flow of supply & make profit by selling complete rings & jewelry either direct or to jewelry stores, and buyers get a professionally reconditioned, certified & warranted like new piece of jewelry for a much lower price than buying new. Just my two cents.

Yeah, that's something I've been thinking about, as my current process is a bit more involved, i.e., time consuming. Anytime I'm at a new or unfamiliar beach, I'll hit the wet & shallow water first with my Sovereign Elite in discrim mode, to get auto iron rejection along with variable pitch tones. When my Sov is over iron, my threshold tone nulls, so if/when I hear a lot of threshold nulling, that tells me there's iron down below, so I'll continue using the Sov rather than the PI.

Discrim mode isn't as deep as all-metal, so even if there's a lot of iron present, I'll switch to hunting in all-metal to get deeper depth, then cross check signals in discrim. If the threshold nulls, then it's iron & I'll keep moving. But if the signal disappears & I still hear the threshold tone, the target is probably just a bit deeper than discrim mode can detect, so I'll remove a scoop or two of sand and that usually allows discrim mode to pick up the target. But if I don't hear a lot of nulling and start digging some good targets, I'll finish searching with my Sov then switch over to the PI and run back over the wet, listening for any whisper signals or nulls.

Interestingly, threshold nulling on my Sov & Dual Field PI indicate different things. On my Sov, threshold nulling typically indicates iron, but on my DF PI, threshold nulling indicates a very deep target, so threshold nulls mean different things depending on what detector I'm using. I need to try using my X-Terra Elite on the beach, as it would/should provide more information, and might help me simplify my process & save time, allowing me to move faster & find more targets. And I always have the option of running back over the same area with my PI or Sov if I feel the need.
